Virginia is well known for its beautiful mountains and dense forests. These forests need to be maintained in order for them to thrive and stay beautiful. For big jobs like this, you need big tools and the right machinery for the job. Forestry and tree trucks are the right tools for those big jobs. What kind of specialized trucks are out there? In what other applications can these tools be used? How can they make the dangerous job of logging and maintaining the forest easier and safer?

There are a few different types of forestry and tree trucks in Virginia. For general clearing of branches and working high up in trees, a bucket truck is just what you need. Of course you have chipping and stump grinding trucks; you can even find some models of bucket trucks with chippers included. After you have chopped down those trees you’re going to need to move the timber, that’s where a grapple boom truck comes in handy. You can find all these trucks in different sizes, bigger trucks for bigger jobs.

Most of these trucks were made with the forestry industry in mind, but they have many uses outside of Virginia’s state forests and parks. One obvious answer is in landscaping and maintaining large properties. Bucket trucks for instance, can be used as a safer and faster alternative to ladders in any application. They are especially good when it comes to maintaining power lines in rural and unpaved locations, as the trucks themselves were made to be driven in even rougher terrain. In or out of the forest, these trucks get the job done.

Although none of these trucks take the worker completely out of danger when felling trees, they can make a lot of the other aspects of the industry safer. DOT, the Department of Transportation, has strict regulations on safety that all forestry and tree trucks have to follow. With these guidelines in mind, manufacturers have made tools that are powerful and efficient while still keeping their users as safe as possible.

It is always important to have the right tool for the job. For those large forestry jobs, an even larger utility truck is the way to go. So where can you find forestry and tree trucks in Virginia? The only company I found in Virginia is Power Line Rent E-Quip Inc.. While on their site I also noticed that they rent them out. Large logging companies and forestry services should own these trucks but being able to rent them can make a large job for a small company that much easier.
