Carpeting is a very expensive undertaking; most people would agree with that. However, that seems to be where the agreements stop, as there are a number of misconceptions about the cleaning process; when to do it, what process is the best, etc. To shed a little light on the issue, Riverside carpet cleaners have a few timely comments that hopefully will add years to the life of your carpets and area rugs.

Carpet cleaning is only done to remove the dirt:

This is not true. Certainly, that is the primary reason but the cleanliness of your carpets has a direct effect on the air quality in your home. A carpet is not something that just gets dirty and stained; it is home to a number of potential allergens; bacteria, dust mites, fungus and mold. Any of these can make the life of an allergy sufferer miserable.

The house will also smell a great deal fresher; this is especially true if you or someone in your home smokes. The odor from cigarette smoke will land on anything, including the carpets, and leave a long-lasting odor in its wake.

You can vacuum too much:

This is not true either. A good-quality carpet cannot be harmed by over-vacuuming. The only carpet that may be damaged by vacuuming is one which is falling apart anyway and should be replaced.

The truth is; you probably don’t vacuum enough. The manufacturers of most carpets and Riverside carpet cleaners both recommend daily vacuuming, as pollutants such as animal dander, dust mites, fleas and loose soil can and will get into your home every day and settle in the carpet.

Spot stain removal is money saving:

Most of the commercially available spot removers contain very harsh chemicals. These chemicals are formulated to remove the toughest of stains, including blood and oil. They may very well remove the stain, but there is an equally good chance that they will remove the color as well, and do damage to the fibers.

The same is true for deodorant powers that are designed to be sprinkled on the carpets. They contain a form of talc, which stays on the carpet fibers and gets down to the backing. It is next to impossible to remove all the powder by vacuuming; a lot will stay in the carpet. When the carpet is cleaned, the residual powder mixes with the water used in the cleaning process and leaves behind white stains that cannot be removed.

DIY cleaning is just as good as professional cleaning:

This is exactly the opposite. DIY rental carpet cleaning machines use a lot of water, but they do not have the power to extract it well. The carpet will stay damp for a few days, and during this time will mold and mildew and the backing will begin to deteriorate. A lot of the detergent stays in the carpet, attracting dirt. This does not happen with high pressure commercial equipment used by Riverside carpet cleaners.

Riverside carpet cleaners are proud to bring the Zerorez high pressure carpet cleaning system to the people of the Los Angeles area. The company guarantees your satisfaction and is pleased to be a member of The Carpet and Rug Institute.
