LEDs may be little, but they produce a lot of light with very little wasted heat output. You may recognize LEDs as the indicator light on small appliances or under-shelf illumination, but they have grown to produce bright lights and using less energy within the last several years.
Portable LED work lights are bright and now an essential tool for every toolbox. Some workspaces are not well lit, so portable LED work lights are perfect for lighting the way.
LED Technology
Light-emitting diodes (LED) are solid-state devices that convert energy into light of a single color. Because the energy emitted is in the visible spectrum, LED lights do not waste energy. In comparison, most of the energy from an incandescent lamp is in the infrared (non-visible) part of the spectrum which makes it invisible.
Heat and Efficiency
LED lights are up to 75% more efficient than traditional fluorescent and incandescent lighting. LED lights are also not as hot as fluorescent lights. Fluorescent lights convert 95% of energy into heat while LED lights only convert 5% into heat. A 36-watt LED light produces the same amount of light as an 84-watt fluorescent light. Less energy is used which reduces the demand for power consumption.
Life Span
LED lights last six times longer than other types of lights. This means lower carbon emissions and fewer resources are needed for production.
Applications
LED lighting is available in a wide variety of products. Portable LED work lights have exploded into the market. They have become increasingly more common for workers and the general public as the go-to lighting needs for unlit, tight places. Since portal LED work lights are light in weight, easy to use, and do not get hot, workers can easily grab them to move around for correct illumination.
